The album version of this song includes live drums by Tyler Donaldson, recorded on one chill winter afternoon in a basement in Omaha, Nebraska belonging to friend Heath. We taped the mic's to the stands and various boxes as we were a shoddy operation then (and little has changed). This was the first recording I ever made for Hollow Godric with real drums.
lyrics
All our trunks are stowed
Farewells all said
This train has run
So now we sit and take what’s left
Of summer’s final breath
As our lives roll by
Like portraits and
Landscapes
Just as hours will grow up to be days
Just as I remain a face in the window
This portrait’s never the same
The daylight was waning
And the thoughts came unbidden
As the sky began raining
And the landscape was hidden
By raindrops painting
Their tip tap pictures on windows
This train ride’s a quick one
And no one can see
Just where you will, who you will, what you will be
In time you’ll hear whistles and calls for the end of the line
But I soon left these thoughts
And played gobstones with Ron
Had a laugh at just how many times he had won
And I smiled to think of the stories we’ll have
When we’re done
As our lives roll by,
Like portraits and landscapes
Just as hours will grow up to be days
While I remain a face in the window
This portrait’s never the same

This album is mainly a selection of songs from two early wizard rock compilations (one summer-themed, one holiday-themed), and although it's a little long and somewhat unfocused, I do love that these songs are available again, because there are some real gems. yourwizardrockresource
Just gorgeous. I bought Eva's previous EP and was so glad to see that she released a full-length album as well. I love her turns of phrase, which give every song depth and brilliance. yourwizardrockresource
The second EP from Northern Irish singer-songwriter Bea Stewart runs from gentle folk to pillowy pop ballads, all perfectly executed. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 15, 2024
